JUPEP-Joint University Preliminary Examination Board
•This exams body was established by University of Lagos in collaboration with University of Ibadan and Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile-Ife.It allows students gain direct entry admission (200 Level) into any Nigeria and Foreign Universities.

  • NAGCE-National Examination for Business and Technical Education Board in collaboration with University of Benin is a Federal Government body established to conduct examinations in Nigeria.

Candidates shall write any of the following External ‘A’ Level Examinations:IJMB-Interim Joint Matriculation Board, an academic programme moderated by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria made available for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria and Foreign universities through direct entry 200level. It is approved by NUC and JAMB. The examination holds January/February every year. JUPEB-Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board- 10months programme moderated by University of Lagos, Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Ibadan etc, It is approved by NUC and JAMB. The examination takes place August/September every year.

NAGCE A LEVEL- National Advanced GCE A Level was introduced by National Business and Technical Examination Board. (NABTEB) a Federal Government examination body founded in 1992 to conduct examinations in Arts,Social Sciences and Science Subjects.

  • It is equivalent to IJMB ,JUPEB and GCE A LEVEL.
  • NAGCE A Level is listed as Direct Entry qualification by JAMB for candidates preparing to start universities from 200Level.The Examination holds November/December every year.


  • The IJMB programme run for ten (10)months which splits into two (2) semesters, The lecture starts in April while final examination comes up in February every year.
  • The JUPEB lectures starts November and final examinations are written in June every year. •NABTEB(NAGCE) lectures start January and final examinations are written in November/December every year.
  • The Examination is available in all subjects and candidate must enroll for three subjects combinations in Arts,Social Sciences and Sciences relevant to his/her desired course of studies in the university.

A= 5Points D=2Points
B=4Points E= 1Point
C=3Points F= 0Point

  • For instance:
  • (1)Biology A, Chemistry C, Physics B=13points
  • (2)Accounting E, Business Mgt C, Econs D=7Points
  • (3)Physics A, Chemistry F, Mathematics A=10Points
    NOTE: One point will be added if there is no ‘F’ in any of the three subjects offered.

RELEVANT SUBJECT COMBINATIONS: Medical &Sciences-Biology, Chemistry and Physics Engineering,Technology & Science-Chemistry,Mathematics and Physics Social Science-Accounting,Business Management and Economics Administration-Government,Economics,(Bus.Mgt or Accounting )or Sociology,Government,Bus.Mgt.Arts/Humanities/Law- CRS or IRS,Govt. and Literature.
Physics, Biology and Mathematics may be combined in IJMB for Computer Science or any computer relating courses except Computer Engineering.


  • Candidates must have 5 ‘O’ Level credits including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings.
  • Students awaiting result can also apply.
  • Candidate shall offer (3) main subjects at advanced level, depending on the intended course of study in the university.
  • Candidates seeking admission into any university.
  • Candidates who fail JAMB/Post-JAMB Examination
  • Candidate awaiting SSCE ‘O’ Level Examination result.
  • Candidates who passed JAMB/POST JAMB Exam but unable to secure admission.
  • Candidates with deficiency in English Language or Mathematics.
  • Candidates who did not sit for JAMB or UTME.
